If there is one Harley-Davidson motorcycle that would personify the classic styling, large displacement, and the true spirit of the American heavy cruiser, it would be the Road King Classic. The bike shares much in common with others in the touring line and with the Road King in particular. Of particular note are the full size, classic fenders, the full-length floorboards for both riders, oversized, 6-gallon gas tank, and classic two-up seat. For 2009 the Road King Classic retains its 16-inch front and rear laced steel wheels and wide-whitewall tires. Tooled leather covers the seat trim and the leather-covered saddlebags. Touring features auxiliary passing lights and, unlike other members of the touring lineup, standard cruise control. In an effort to enhance an already proven design, Harley-Davidson revisited their Road King in 2009 and made a number of changes, some small, some large. None of the changes, however, resulted in an adulteration of the core spirit of the Road King, specifically a blend of touring comfort and aggressive style for a new generation. Classic styling touches include the chrome, 5-light Hiawatha headlamp and clear-lens auxiliary passing lights, chrome engine covers, a deep-skirted FL front fender and white-stripe tires. The seat has been restyled for 2009 with chrome accents and a new low-mount license bracket locates the plate below the tail lamp, with new LED license plate illumination. The traditional straight-up Road Glide windshield remains unchanged as does the tank-mounted electronic speedometer/odometer combo with integrated clock. Still featured front-and-center are classic styling cues like full-length rider and passenger floorboards, a detachable Lexan windshield, and injection-molded GTX hard saddlebags. [...]
