2009 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle

New for the Harley-Davidson VRSC line in 2009 is the V-Rod Muscle. While the name may imply a significant increase in power, handling, or performance, this lightly upgraded version of the stock V-Rod is more an improvement in looks than anything else. The motorcycle featuers a prolonged, low and clean appearance of this VRSC member of the family has a familiar look when compared to the other two 2009 V-Rods.

With sculpted bodywork extended over a powerful brand new physique, the 2009 VRSCF V-Rod Muscle rides its way onto the current Power Cruiser scene with an imposing presence. Gaping air scoops, sweeping side-pipe exhause system plus a massive rear tire under the clean, clipped back fender speak to a contemporary, urban sense of style and performance. The Muscle catapults the Harley-Davidson VRSC platform onto new turf.

Many will say that the V-Rod Muscle is primarily styling makeover. Rather of the far more rounded shape of the other V-Rods, this particular bike adopts slightly more angular forms, especially in the fuel tank/air-box cover, wide side air-intake covers and squared-off low and comfortable saddle which has a back support made to hold the rider in place during powerful bursts of acceleration.

The wide, angular air-box cover and chopped tail section appear as solid and sleek as billet and give the newest V-Rod outlines that are clean as well as powerful. The stop/tail/turn combo LED tail light is tucked under the edge of the rear fender, additionally, the radiator shroud is new and incorporates a minimalist rear fender with incredibly tasteful and smartly-integrated stop/turn/taillight. The further one gets from the rear of this bike, the thinner the fender looks, yet safety isn’t impacted thanks to the particularly powerfully LED lighting system. The side-mount license plate leaves the fender surface being both smooth and uncluttered.

V-Rod Muscle LED MirrorsFront-end design balances the rear. A clipped fender that’s blacked out behind satin-finished inverted forks and LED turn signals built into the mirror posts. The mirrors on their own, combined with the meaty angular bars, internally-wired cast bar riser and simple triple gauges with sportbike-gauge-inspired looks all combine to enhance the block o’ billet look and feel of the bike. The radiator shrouds are restyled as well as color-matched to match the remaining portion of the bodywork. The leading fender also deserves design kudos with its rear mostly wearing a matte-black trim in order to fade away visually, leaving the first impression that only a simple, chopped fender covers the 5-spoke cast-aluminum 19-inch front wheel which are of a brand-new design and unique to the V-Rod Muscle in 2009.

Straight back exhaust system of the V-Rod MuscleUltimately, probably the most distinct item setting the Muscle apart from its mates is the large dual-exhaust system. The Harley-Davidson designers gave a muscle-car look to the motorcycle. If is finished out in satin stainless steel which works especially well when contrasted with the Brilliant Silver color scheme.

The 1250cc Revolution V-Twin engine, standard on all 2009 VRSC models, features a 60-degree angle, is liquid-cooled and features Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) to increase efficiecy and measure up to government regulations. It looks like a solid piece of billet, appearing jewel-like in the newest V-Rod Dual overhead cams, four-valve heads, and a five-speed transmission are standard for these bikes.

Harley-Davidson decided to go with a rubber-mounted engine encased in a hydroformed exterior frame. The fuel tank is actually a shell which covers a large-volume airbox located over the engine. A five-gallon fuel tank is located below the seat on all VRSC models including the V-Rod muscle.

Tuned to provide up to 125 hp at 8250 rpm and up to 85 ft-lbs. of torque at 7000 rpm, this is one Harley-Davidson that is equipped to live up to its name. Acceleration is fantastic from roughly 6,000 rpm all the way to the redline. Generally, the motor pulls in a very confident and linear manner in any of the six gears and at almost any engine speed.

Stopping this silver bullet is cake with the effective dual Brembo brakes. Optional ABS, designed to help the rider maintain control during braking events, especially those that happen in less-than-optimal conditions, can be installed at the Harley-Davidson factory. They are intended to work in conjunction with the high-performance Brembo triple-disc brakes. When introduced in 2009 the Brembp/ABS combo stood as the most sophisticated braking system offered on any power cruiser.
