2009 Harley-Davidson Night Train
First Reviewed August 23, 2009 Found in Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Reviews, Softail
When Harley-Davidson designers laid out the 2009 Night Train, they ended up creating a bike that has a lot in common with the Dyna family but incorporates the comfort, looks, and style features of the Softail lineup. This particular motorcycle was infused with a dark soul and many of major components feature a blacked-out color coat.
In fact, style is really the only thing which sets this bike apart from the other members of the Softail family. Most of what you’ll find here is shared including the air-cooled, twin-cam 96B V-Twin engine and six-speed transmission. This low-revving model only needs to crank at 2,750 rpm in order to achieve it's full 87.9 ft-lbs of torque, so there is plenty of power for mountain cruising or ruling the fast lane.

The 2-up seat is positioned at 25.2 inches above the ground, but this still won’t make the Night Train a veritable low ride simply because there’s much more to it than the custom inspirations that it gets. We’re dealing with a fairly long and low, but still compact Harley-Davidson bike that is supposed to handle just as good as it looks, especially if taking in consideration the 682 pounds wet weight.
Dark Custom is the name of the game on this Softail so embrace the darkness with features like a blacked-out powertrain and wrinkle-black trim on the engine covers, air cleaner, oil tank, rear fender supports, drive belt sprocket and black nostalgic fuel tank console. The long FX front end and narrow 21-inch laced front wheel counter a beefy 200 mm rear tire on a slotted cast disc under a dark Bobtail fender. Drag bars and forward foot controls create an aggressive posture whether cruising highways or dark alleys and a new low-profile front fender hugs the 21-inch laced front wheel and tire.
The Night Train works well as a custom platform for those looking to create a low rider but want a motorcycle which will provide comfort on longer trips. A host of custom components are available from Harley-Davidson directly or from numerous custom parts manufacturers making the number of potential designs endless. From the factory, though, This popular bike is only available in four colors. These include the new Red Hot Sunglo, Vivid Black, Black Pearl, and (as shown here) Black Denim.Reviews of the 2009 Harley-Davidson Night Train can be found below.
