If "bad boy biker" is the look you’re after, then it might be best to take a second glance at Harley-Davidson's 2009 Dyna Street Bob. This is a motorcycle with an attitude that kicks, a modern distillation of classic post-war Bobber design, the Dyna Street Bob is stripped down to the edge of street-legal trim.
This restyled member of the 2009 Dyna lineup injects raw-boned street presence into a bold, custom styled package. A quick glance at the chopped rear fender and a retro tail light give hints that the Street Bob is being given a look which is typified by old school “garage engineering.” The Street Bob a good looking bike in one of the baseline Dyna models and transforms it into a great looking bike through a series of small detail upgrades which culminates at overall attractive and compact look. We see the solo seat getting reworked and new laced wheels sporting gloss black rims. Internally wired mini-ape-hanger bars, the authentic Fat Bob fuel tank and wrinkle-black trim complete the minimalist Street Bob profile. It is easy to appreciate the small headlight and the silver-faced speedometer and other elements of post-war style and even easier to see why the bike has enjoyed such success at the Harley-Davidson dealerships coast-to-coast.
The machine is propelled by the air-cooled Twin Cam 96 V-Twin engine. Both black and powder-coated, the engine fits perfectly as the centerpiece of this machinery and the chromed shorty dual exhaust adds a nice custom touch and we totally dig that. This powerplant generates 92 ft-lbs or torque at 3,000 rpm and is equipped with electronic sequential port fuel injection which works to maintain a light level of efficiency. A six-speed transmission comes standards on this model which works flawlessly with the fuel injection system to provide both great performance and excellent fuel management. The Fat Bob gas tank holds just under 5 gallons of fuel which will move both bike and rider about 260 miles across the highway between fillips. Not bad.
Although early models from the 1940’s weren’t big on creature comforts, the 2009 Dyna Street Bob provides a comfortable ride thanks to the mid-mount foot controls and mini ape-hanger-style handlebars which set the rider in the ideal riding position atop the saddle just 26.5 inches off the ground.Harley-Davidson made this motorcycle available in five color choices which include: Vivid Black; Black Denim; Pewter Denim; Red Hot Denim, and Dark Blue Denim.
