2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Custom

At the top end of the Dyna line comes the 2009 Super Glide Custom. Harley-Davidson engineers created this bike with the intentions of packing it with most of the features and style of the more expensive Softail bikes, but without adding to the overall price tag. It shares a lot in common with the standard Super Glide but the final product is distinctive in its own right.
The Dyna Super Glide Custom is powered by the air-cooled, Twin Cam 96 engine and six speed transmission. Like all other models on the 2009 lineup, this bike comes equipped with electronic fuel injection to increase performance and efficiency. The engine is powder coated and features chromed cylinder heads, the seat is a solo unit and the shorty exhaust pipes not only manage to stand out, but enhance the refined look of the bike.
Turning heads while cruising the boulevard and riding economical down the highway is something the Super Glide Custom achieves with flawless balance. Thanks, in part, to the six-speed Cruise Drive transmission that Harley-Davidson engineers fit on the bikes, claimed highway mpg is 54 and taking in consideration the 4.8 gallons tank capacity (5.0 gallons on the Custom model) too, traveling range is excellent.

Many manufacturers have tried to imitate the blend of performance and style which appeal to Super Glide Custom riders, but all seem to fall short in some way/shape/form. This includes the '08 Honda VTX 1800F, the '09 Suzuki Boulevard M90, and the '09 Star Raider. While the Japanese manufacturers have made huge strides in developing H-D clones, they have not been able to crack the code that gives the Dyna Super Glide its privileged position in the eyes of the American buying public. This allows the Super Glide Custom to be able to dominate in its niche as other American companies such as Victory and Indian Motorcycles are not even trying to compete.
All Dyna models feature a new silver-face low-profile tank-mounted console which incorporates the speedometer and fuel range countdown read-out, a new low-profile wrap-around front fender and a new fuel sender.
The 2009 Dyna Super Glide Custom is derived from the base model but it does have features which set it apart including a gallong Fat Bob gas tank (increased from 4.8 gallons) with chrome tank console and console-mounted speedometer, two-up ribbed seat, pullback handlebars and chrome laced steel wheels with standard spokes. Pricing on the two bikes is very close with the Super Glide Custom running just $1,000 more at $12,999. Overall, this price is a great value considering the fact that this Dyna includes the added power of the larger V-Twin engine as well as many eye-catching features which make a good Harley great. This model is shown laid out in two-tone Vivid Black/Pewter Pearl but the motorcycle is made available in Dark Blue Pearl, Vivid Black, and two new colors which are Red Hot Sunglo and two-tone Flame Blue Pearl/Pewter Pearl.
